After his studies as a civil engineer with a focus on materials science and numerical modeling for physics, Nicolas Butaye obtained the CEIPI's degree in Strasbourg in patent law, following which he began his career in 2012 as a patent attorney at Office Kirkpatrick in Belgium, where he qualified as a European patent attorney in July 2015 and a Belgian patent attorney in January 2016.
In this position, he gained experience in patentability and patent application research in various technical fields including mechanical engineering, software, industrial processes, household appliances, biomedical engineering and medical imaging and vision systems.
He joined Pecher & Partners in 2016 where he leverages his versatile technical background and solid experience in patent law to assist his clients in their IP strategy. Since 2018, he also conducts part-time in-house consultancy assignments in the patent departments of Pecher & Partners’ multinational clients.
